Who We Are
The mission of Checks & Balances for You is to deliver the highest quality personal assistance for daily money management activities. This could mean doing all of the tasks ourselves, relieving our clients of the daily burden; teaching and empowering our clients to be more proficient and efficient at managing their own finances, and everything in between.
Our goals are to
- empower our clients with pertinent financial information;
- enhance their lives by simplifying administrivia; and
- provide value through organization and caring.
About Our Staff
Susie Marbury, the founder and owner of Checks & Balances for You, has had a varied career. In addition to working for over 30 years as a computer professional, she has also owned her own businesses and kept the books for her companies, as well as for others.
In the mid 1990s, driven by a desire to pursue more meaningful work, Susie headed in a new direction. She entered architecture school with a belief that we could build more sustainable buildings and communities. After earning her Masters in Architecture, Susie became a strong proponent of green building. She was instrumental in starting the U.S. Green Building Council New Mexico Chapter and launching the GreenBuilt Tour, now in it’s 14th year.
For the last seven years of her career she worked for the State of New Mexico, initiating policies and administering programs that are saving tax payers money on utility bills and providing more healthy and comfortable buildings. She was also responsible for managing and reporting on a $32 million federal grant that the state received to improve public buildings. During that time Susie was recognized as one of 20 Women Making a Difference by Sage Magazine and received appreciations from the New Mexico Manufactured Housing Association and the New Mexico Home Builders Association for her collaborative spirit.

Sammie Sánchez-Davis joined Checks & Balances for You in March 2016. She spent many years working in customer service in various industries and she brings a strong customer focus to everything she does. Her background also includes use of QuickBooks and, as a recent graduate of the Executive Master of Business Administration program at the University of New Mexico, she broadened and strengthened her knowledge of accounting and general business practices. Sammie loves working with and helping people and exemplifies a positive and upbeat attitude about all she encounters.
